Rotherham Neglect Strategy

Published: Wednesday, 20th September 2017

The RLSCB  are currently co-ordinating feedback on the draft Rotherham Neglect Strategy and Neglect Action Plan 2017-18.  The final version will be approved by the learning and improvement sub group.

Things you can do to ensure that neglect is addressed effectively are:

  • If you’re working with a family where neglect is a concern make sure you use the Graded Care Profile at an early stage. By doing so you can ensure the family and everyone involved can be clear about what the concerns are, what needs to change, how this can be achieved and the timescale for this.
  • Seek support and supervision with your manager to ensure that you are able to reflect on the children and families you are working with to make sure there are clear assessments, effective plans and that progress is reviewed.
  • Ensure you’ve discussed your training needs with your manager and are able to complete training on neglect. More information about neglect, including the Graded Care Profile, is located on the Neglect page of the DSCB website
