Delivering your own safeguarding training in education and early years settings

Venue: Rockingham Professional Development Centre

Are you the Headteacher or Designated Safeguarding Lead? Would you like to be able to run your own staff safeguarding training in your school or setting or do you currently run your own staff training but would like to refresh your knowledge and skills?

Whole school/staff safeguarding training provides an opportunity for staff to learn together, to be informed of their statutory duties as identified in government guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’; to be made aware of the different types of abuse and how to deal with concerns, including where a child makes a disclosure, and gives the Head or DSL the opportunity to highlight their own school/settings safeguarding policies and procedures.

Participants on this ‘training the trainer’ workshop will:

  • Work through the power-point presentation and the trainer notes
  • Review and discuss  ice-breaker exercises, case studies and other group work
  • Consider the emotional impact of child protection training and identify strategies for managing this within a training session
  • Identify processes to evaluate the effectiveness of safeguarding training
  • Feel confident to deliver a sensitive subject matter in a professional and competent way

Dates available are:

  • Thursday 2nd May 2019 - 1.30 to 3.30 pm
  • Wednesday 25th September 2019 - 9.30 to 11.30am
