Safeguarding Awareness Week - Campaign and resources

Safeguarding week 2018

9th July – 13th July 2018

This year is Rotherham’s first Safeguarding Awareness Week (SAW) and is focusing on raising awareness about 'What is Safeguarding?' amongst the public and encouraging children and young people, adults with care and support needs, their families, parents /carers, friends and neighbours to find out more from the Rotherham Safeguarding website.

Organisations and their staff are encouraged to:

  • use the posters and leaflets (see below) to create a display in a public space
  • devise ways of discussing 'what safeguarding is' with those who use their services.

THE CAMPAIGN'S KEY MESSAGES ARE:

  1. EVERYONE has a part to play in keeping vulnerable people (adults with care and support needs, and children and young people) safe from abuse and neglect and promoting their wellbeing.
  2. Safeguarding is.... about all the things that we can do together to identify, respond and support people who are being abused, or neglected, or whose wellbeing is being compromised.
  3. Help and support is available - safeguarding processes help people and work with the individual and their family to meet their needs.
  4. Anyone can raise a concern - Tel: 01709 336080 (to safeguard a child) or Tel: 01709 822330 (to safeguard an adult)
  5. Rotherham Safeguarding Adults Board website and Rotherham Children Safeguarding Board websites are the best place to find out more.
