Self Harm

Self harm describes a wide range of things people do to themselves, which appear to be harmful but usually do not kill them.

This includes:

  • cutting or burning themselves
  • hitting themselves
  • hitting walls or other hard objects
  • taking overdoses
  • sometimes self harm is called self-injury

This site provides information about support and treatment available for young people who self harm, for their carers/families, friends and for professionals who work with them.
